Obama Christ

Obama Christ

The Anointed One has been chosen to lead our country. Praise has been coming in from all over the world for the New Messiah that will save the world from global warming, economic ruin and social injustice. The dreams of millions are now firmly wrapped up in Barack Obama. I’m leery of Mr. Obama and his agenda but some pundits are suggesting that he will be more of a moderate Democrat than the rabidly Marxist Pelosi or Reed would want. Mr. Obama will likely do many things that are socially responsible such as rolling back Bush’s ban on stem cell research, which has the potential of saving millions of lives, he has promised to pull troops out of Iraq, which if he does will be a great thing and will save us billions of dollars every month. I don’t think he will do it but you never know. Do I think Obama will be a good president? No. I think he is too socialistic, loves government intervention and believes more government in our lives is a good thing. While he might not use government power to spy on us (but don’t count on it) he does think the government should regulate our lives more, take more of money and believes bailing out companies who are failing is a good thing. Mr. Obama will likely be a nice respite from the fascist tyranny of the Bush administration but I fear we might have something even more oppressive come down the pike.

Obama didn’t win because he offered the best ideas or the most sane solutions to our problems. He won because he wasn’t Bush. A smooth talker no doubt but smooth talking isn’t going to mean he is a good leader. And his agenda is that great either. His socialization of health care will be disastrous causing rationing and long wait times, raising minimum wage to $9.50 an hour will move more people onto government welfare rolls as unemployment goes up and while he says he supports civil rights he wants to force people to serve the government for college aid. He also wants to steal more money from the taxpayers so that the rich can get richer. His environmental plan is to steal $150 billion from the taxpayers to subsidize the energy market to promote “green” energy. While I cannot argue against green energy I don’t think stealing my money is the right way to do it. But I guess it’s a double edged sword. Mr. Obama is big into the idea of “windfall profit” taxes. Of course no one has ever defined what a “windfall profit” is but that is the least of his concerns. Just know that if you earn too much money, or more than the socialist think you should earn, they will still that money from you.

The problem with Obama and his policies, is that while they look good on paper (at least to those with less than half a brain) they are massive invasions of property rights. What right does Obama or anyone else have to say an employer must pay $9.50 an hour to someone or any rate? Employment is a contract between an employer and an employee. If someone is willing to work for $1.50 an hour what business is it of Obama or anyone else? Hell, if we are going to raise minimum wage why not just raise it to $1,000 an hour? As for “windfall” profits how does one determine if they have earned too much? What is the acceptable level of profit? If I have a business that makes a profit of $20 billion a year is that too much? Even if 90% of that money is returned to my investors and I employ 50,000 people all over the world? Really, please, tell me how much profit is too much profit.

Instead of nickel and diming your way to full socialization why not just go ahead and do it. Do away with “dollars” and introduce credits. Give us all a debit card with X amount of credits on it. Why not take everything we earn, a 100% income tax, and then just doll it all out in equal amounts? Expand public housing to everyone. Take ownership of all property in the country and then tell each of us where we can live. Why not? This is the ultimate goal of all socialist. Total control over every aspect of your life. Obama’s plans are the beginning in this new century of total control.

His administration will be marked by more regulations, more wealth confiscation, more wealth redistribution and more invasions of property rights than any other president in history, I believe. Hopefully in 2010 Libertarians can rack up some nice wins against the GOP and the Democrats and infuse some sane logic into the arguments presented on Capital Hill.
